The aims and results of the research project will be mainly of two types: individual, i.e. achieved by each single research unit (UO), and synergistic, i.e. obtained through the scientific contribution of all UOs.
Both individual and synergistic contributions will characterize the two phases of the project (i.e. experimental and modeling) and their combination will allow us to achieve the aim and the final result of the project: development of an innovative mathematical platform for the design and management of WWTPs by reducing the environmental impact in terms of both energy costs and emissions. The quantification of emissions by means of a standardized protocol of measurement and the employed technologies, which will lead to the setting-up of a prototype tool, will also constitute one of the major aims and results of the project.
